Has anyone used sassafrass for smoking pork :sign0092:

Never used it myself!
This is all I could find on the forum for Sassafrass, no idea on how it tastes though!
I have done a pork butt in a crock pot with Root Beer and it came out pretty good. If you have the Sassafrass on hand, give it a go let us know how it comess out! :cheers2:

I haven't used it, but I do know that all the sassafras flavor is in the outer bark of the root and not in the wood.

I have used Sassafras a couple times and it seems to work just fine to me. There are those that will tell you it's not a good wood for smoking but other than this twitch I've developed, it seems fine to me...:msn-wink:

(just kidding about the twitch)

I've used it but don't feel it has any advantages that'd keep me going back. It was one of those idle curiosity cooks. I'm not curious any more.
